OMAHA INAUGURAL TODAY Successful Meeting Forecast With Plenty of Horses Available for AkSarBen Racing OMAHA Neb May 31 Racing will be welcomed back to the state of Nebraska when the annual meeting under the auspices of the AkSarBen Exposition Co begins tomorrow That the welcome will be a warm one is assured by the fact that great inter ¬ est is being displayed in the meeting through ¬ out the Middle West Not only are the rac ¬ ing fans and sport lovers anxiously awaiting the opening but the horsemen seem to sense that Omaha is to have a great meeting this year and manager Carey is swamped with applications for stabling room Many good horses are coming from Aurora A special fifteencar express train left the Illinois city last night bound for this city and several more cars will be shipped at the conclusion of the Aurora meeting Some of Auroras best thoroughbreds will be seen in action at AkSarBen Field They are Jack Alexander Sergeant Seth Prince Tii Tii Bill Seth Brilliant Polvo and Jack Fair man Jack Alexander and Sergeant Seth were considered by many to be the two best horses that performed at Aurora AuroraThe The management provided an attractive program for opening day with the Omaha Inaugural Handicap at threequarters of a mile featuring the card A 1000 purse will go with this event and the other races wi 1 carry a value of 700 If possible two long ¬ distance events and a twoyearold sprint will be given every day dayJudge Judge Joseph A Murphy one of Americas most prominent and capable racing officials will serve as the presiding steward and will have full charge of the racing end Association with judge Murphy in the stand will be John Carey also a prominent racing official and who will act as racing secretary and N J Ronin who will represent the Nebraska State Racing Commission Messrs Murphy Carey and Ronin will be the board of stew ¬ ards and judges will be J S Rothert and Perry Reed ReedThe The first race will be called to the post at 2 15 and every Tuesday and Friday has been set aside as Ladies Day
