Parrish. well known breeder and owner of Midway. Kentucky, was among Hm visitors to Churchill Don ns last Sunday morning. He came to Inspect his stable of horses in training at that track, in charge of Harry Luns-ford and Howard Rmk. Mr. Parrish was pleased to note the fine condition of his horses, and ventured the opinion that they would all make good this year. The appearance of Rolled Stocking, in particular, appealed to Mr. Parrish, who has planned a most ambitious campaign for the winner of last years Latonia Championship. According to these plans Rolled Stocking will be raced at Churchill Downs and La-tonia. and afterward sent East for a summer campaign on the metropolitan tracks, and at Saratoga, having been named in nearly all of the rich fixtures for three-year-olds and over, to be decided at those places. Mr. Parrish was gratified to learn that Percentage, another of his handicap horses, had fully recovered from a recent serious illness, and iras DOW taking his training in good shape. 1eiventage will be raced at the Kentucky spring metings, and later on sent to Chicago to race. Mr. Parrish also found that his highly prized Dr. Parrish, two-year-old colt b Light Brigade — Mary Belle, a half brother to Rolled Stocking, had fully recovered from a spell of sickness. Another highly regarded juvenile in the Parrish barn is Woodiot. a ba colt, by Ballot — Rosewood. a half brother to Blackwood, one of the Isloomfield Stable** candidates for the Kentucky Derby. oncernin • his breeding operations Mr. Parrish spone most encouragingly. Recently Gossip A venae, dam of Percentage, foaled a fine looking filly by Chilhowee The French filly La Planche de Briante has a fine looking yearling by My Play, and s-is now in foal to Pennant. Escarpolette, the ten-year-old mare that Mr. Parrish purchased last spring is in foal to Supreinus. Mary Bell.- is in foal to Kpinard. and Scramble is in foal to Dress Parade. Rosewood has been bred to Pennant. In mating his brood mares Mr. Parrish seeks the best stallions standing in Kentucky, and the adoption of this wise plan is bound, eventually, to prodiee highl gratifying results. Dr. R. N. Woodard. owner of the Lyncliff Stock Farm, near this city, is meeting with fine success in his breeding operations, and. like Mr. Parrish. he believes in sending his mares to highest class sires, despite the fact that it proves quite costly. Miss Rowan, one of his brood mares, which recently foaled a colt by Golden Broom, is to be mated with Kpinard. Wasp, which had a foal by Wild-air, is to be bn-d to North Star III. Society, a:.other mare that foaled to Right Brigade. lias been sent • Idle Hour Stock Farm, to the court of Bla« k Toney. Respite, another of Dr. Woodards mares, is to be bred to Golden Guinea. She has a fine looking suckling colt by Tryster. a
