At Lexington One Best Bet — REVERIES GAL — In the Fifth Race. i , j ! i , 1 ! I ! t J i ■ ! i ] i j , 1 c, ] I j 1 i ! ■ I | ; Tlic thirty-fifth running of the Ashland Oaks features the eight race program offered at Lexington today. Twelve of the best three-year-old fillies in these parts are entered and they will be asked to race one mile and one-sixteenth under allowance conditions. V. K. llupps unbeaten REVERIES GAL looks much the best of the field. She was returned an easy winner over a good band on opening day and has but to show the same kind of speed as she showed in her lace Saturday to take down the honors of the stake. Her most dangerous opponents seem to be in Aleader and Soiree. The imported miss, The Begum II., may cause some trouble. The rest of the card is well divided, four of the races call for sprints over the futurity course distance, and the rest of the card, with the exception of the two-year-old race, will be decided over the longer distances. ALTURA— SEMINOLA— CLUTTER. The first race of the day may be the spot for the filly ALTURA to be home the winner. She is making her first start of the year, but we look for her to prove best in this number, for, taking a line through her races last year, her best efforts were over muddy tracks. A race at her best should find her leading this field to the wire. SEMIXOLA is another which races well over a muddy track. She was short in her first start here and she may have needed that race for a tightener. She looks to be the most probable contender of the field. CLUTTER has but to race at her best to be able to get in the picture. PROUNE— PIPESTEM— GEORGIA W. The filly PROCNE, which raced so well at Jefferson Park, may be the one to prove best of the band of fillies and mares entered in the second race. She is a fast filly over the sprint distances and she should be at home in the going. She has but to show the same kind of speed as she displayed at Jefferson Park to prove the winner here. PIPE-STEM may prove dangerous, but we doubt with her heavy impost if she can take the measure of PROCNE over the short futurity course distance. On her workouts, GEORGIA W. gets the call for the short end of the purse. PONIMOI— LA PETITE— ANGLEPLANE. C. Irbys POXIMOI is given the call in the third race. The gelding is at home in the going and, taking a line through his first start here, in which he finished a good second to Up She Goes, he seems to be not far off from winning form. LA PETITE will no doubt cause POXIMOI no end of trouble, for the filly is in her best form after a hard campaign over the Havana track. Her last start there was a easy win over a heavy track and she has but to race back to that effort today to prove a strong contender. AXGLE-PLAXE, on his races in the going, has to be given the preference for the short end of the purse. CELERITY— XOS REDNA— THUNDER CALL. Two-year-olds will hook up in the fourth race, with H. P. Headleys CELERITY appearing best of the band entered. In her first start she showed a good turn of speed, but tired slightly at the end. She is getting* in with a light impost today and this may be the needed advantage for her to be home a winner. XOS REDXA should be able to take down some part of the purse money, for the field he is meeting here does not call for much. THUNDER CALL, on his last race at Jefferson Park, has to be given a good chance to finish up with the leaders in this contest. REVERIES GAT ALEADER— SOIREE. The unbeaten REVERIES GAL looks much the best of the band of fillies which will make the running in the Ashland Oaks. She demonstrated on opening day that she is a filly of high speed, turning in a fast run race in the muddy going to win well in hand. She has but to show the same kind of speed here to add her name to the winners of this stake.. The most danerous contender may turn up in ALEADER. This miss raced with much success during the winter months at Xew Orleans and, though she ran unplaced behind REVERIES GAL in their meeting last Saturday, we look for her to prove the most dangerous one today. SOIREE, on the speed she has been displaying in her morning trials, has to be given a good chance to be among the pay-off horses. LUCKY HIT— DUMPY— BOND SF.AYE. The Prospect Purse, an allowance race for maiden three-year-olds and over, may be a good spot for LUCKY HIT to get out of the non-winners ranks. He has been training well and we think he is ready to turn in one of his best races today. DUMPY raced well as a two-year-old, though he was unable to win a race. He should be able to account for some part of the purse, for he races well in the going. For the short end of the purse we are selecting BOXD SLAVE. The gelding has been training well and a race to his best style should find him close up at the finish. COLORATURA— LITTLE RUMMY— RALPH HARTENSTEIN. The seventh race, called the Elkborn Purse, calls for a contest over the futurity course distance and it engages a band of three-year-olds and over to race under allowances conditions. COLORATURA may be the one to be home first. She no doubt is ready for a winning race, for the clockers say she has been turning in some fast morning gallops. LITTLE RUMMY, on his best races, figures to be the one to cause COLORATURA the most trouble. RALPH HARTEXSTETX appears best of the rest of the field for the short end of the purse. ROUND TRIP—FIRE ON— VOLE. Platers will make up the field in the concluding race, which calls for a contest over the mile distance. The Coldstream Farm Stables Derby eligible ROUND TRIP is picked to prove a repeater. He won his last race in easy fashion and, in winning, beat practically the same field as he is meeting here. A repetition of that race should find him making it two in a row. FIRE OX turned in a good effort behind BOXIVAN the other day and, on that race, figures to be the most probable contender. VOLE should have little trouble in saving the short end of the purse, should he race back to his last start.
