j NEW FEATURE AT BELMONT President Widener Announces the Aiken Hunters Steeplechase to Be Run May 19. NEW YORK, N. Y., April 27.— Joseph E. Widener, president of the Westchester Racing Association, has announced a new stake to be run Saturday, May 19. There will be seven races at Belmont Park that day, the features being revivals of the 2,000 Keene Memorial, a clash of four furlongs and a half, over the Widener course, for two-year-olds, and the ?30,000 Withers, a gallop of one mile for three-year-olds. The new stake will be known as the Aiken Hunters Steeplechase. Hunters, duly registered by the Hunts Committee of the National Steeplechase and Hunts Association, are eligible to entry May 1. The route will be two miles and a half, over the brush course, the nomination fee. 5, the starting fee, 00. The basic weights will be 163 pounds for five-year-olds, 168 for six-year-olds and upward. Winners of ,000 or more than three races in 1927 and 1928 will have to shoulder penalties of three pounds each ; winners of ,500 or five races in 1927 and 1928, five pounds penalties. Non winners of 00 in 1927 and 1928 will be allowed five pounds, maidens, seven pounds. The added money will be ,200. The Eastern Horse Club will present plate of the value of 00 to the owner of the winner and Henry W. Bull will present a trophy to the rider of the winner. Gentlemen riders will be up. The Westchester Association directorate is satisfied with the support accorded the two new flat races announced about six weeks ; back, the Debut, a dash of seven-eighths for three-year-olds that have not started previous to May 18, the day set for its inaugural, and the Maturity, a gallop of one mile and a quarter for four-year-olds exclusively, down for decision May 23. In announcing these stakes. Mr. Widener reserved the right to declare them off if the response of the horsemen was not sufficiently enthusiastic. Whether they will be renewed next year and in years to come depends on how they turn out this spring. Nobody knows anything about the three-year-olds in the Debut, of course, but, with Nimba, Scapa Flow, Herodian, Osmand, Chance Shot, Kiev, Boise , de Rose, Kentucky II., Sweepster, Sankari, Point Breeze, Buddy Bauer, Miracle, Flippant, [ Afterglow and Filemaker possibilities, the Maturity should not prove a flop. , «
