BELMONT PARK NOTES # — ~® NEW YORK, N. Y., May 17. John P. Gilmore, Baltimore sportsman, arrived for a few days stay. Mosque, which carried James Butlers silks in the first race, was claimed by A. S. Wood-liffe for ,000. Harry Stoddard was an arrival from Pim-lico, as was George Voertman. A fund for the benefit of the widow of John Boone is being raised among the horsemen. Mrs. Boone has been an invalid for several years. Joe McLennan is acting as treasurer and the contributions yesterday at Belmont Park were on a liberal scale. The list is in charge of Mr. McLennan and will be kept over for several days. James Fitzsimmons left for Louisville Wednesday to saddle Distraction. This is Fitzsimmons first trip to Louisville in sixteen years. Clarence Kummer left for Kentucky and will ride A. EL Cosdens Vito in the Derby. William Mahoney, trainer for the Flying Horse Stable, left Tuesday night for Toronto, and the horses belonging to that establishment were shipped yesterday. O. F. Peters has three horses, Pilgrim and two juveniles, that he will race during the season on the New York tracks. William Peters, his son, a promising apprentice, will do the riding. A. S. Woodliffe claimed Undercover Wednesday for ,000. Baby Gar was claimed by David Brooks from the sixth race Wednesday for ,500. ▲ —
