DELAY IN POSTING PRICES The innovation of showing actual pay-offs on all the starters before they reached the barriers had to be discontinued after the second race. A racing: crowd is essentially impatient and when the long delays ensued before the horses reached the post in the first and second races, Mr. Brown ileeided to discontinue the method. In commenting on the matter Mr. Brown said : "I have mingled with the crowd and sensed from their cxprctr ions that it is not to their liking. The defect is that il entails too much delay in the calculations. Delays are inevitable, so I deemed it only fitting to give the racing patrons what they want and ordered the system discontinued. Xext year Arlington Tark will be equipped with a totalizer, which has already been contracted for."
