Viaus colors to a brilliant victory in the American National Premier Handicap, which served as the feature of Arlington Parks opening day program. Flat Iron finished in second place and Heigh Olga third. The time for the mile was 1 :39% and it marked the initial race ever run over the inner track, which is one mile iu circumference. Thirteen started, the best that could he mustered here. The winners net share of the purse was ,240. The start found the winner away well, with Hot Time and she raced in close pursuit of the leader to the stretch, where she took command and succeeded in holding Flat Iron safe. The latter conceded the winner sixteen pounds actual weight. Moonraker was responsible for the delay at the barrier and also for the poor start, Devon, Rolls Royce, Banton and Moonraker being away poorly. Hot Time forced a fast pace and he showed the way to Florence Mills with Reigh Olga also close up and Chicago following. Flat Iron was gradually working his way up and after half a mile was in third place. Chicago tired badly, while Flat Iron made a determined move on reaching the lower turn but his attempt to get throught the inside was frustrated when Florence Mills came over. He began racing outside the leading pair when approaching the stretch turn, but Florence Mills, keeping pace, was always slightly in the lead and she had a two lengths margin at the finish over Flat Iron. Hot Time, tiring badly in the final strides, let I Reigh Olga beat hm home for third place. Crystal Pennant, winner of the Coffroth Handicap, showed a good effort to finish well up after a slow beginning, and the R. C. Stables recent acquisition Sankari also raced well. A large and representative gathering was present or the first Chicago meeting of 1928 with society out in full force. FIRST RACE TO DR. MAXOX. Betting judgment was correct in the opening race, at three-quarters of a mile, when Dr. Maxon, locally owned, was backed to the exclusion of the other starters and he won in commanding fashion after leading the entire distance. Chink, showing good speed during the last eighth, succeeded in outstaying Talladega. The latter found some trouble at the stretch turn, but recovered fast during the stretch run and was racing gamely near the end. Wildrake tired fast after being prominent for half a mile. The second race found Miss Rosedale the victress in the easiest possible manner. She raced in her best form and. getting away with the leaders, disposed of Fair Gold in the first eighth and. drawing away into a good lead, increased it to win as her rider pleased from Ceo. Groom. The latter was the favorite and he began well, but was taken back and had to close a big gap in the last .quarter. He finished gamely. Cloud Idolizer showed a good effort and continued well in the stretch. Fair Gold and The Badger raced forwardly, but they began tiring steadily when the stretch was reached. Hal Side Guy had somewhat the worst of the start, due to being unprepared. W. S. Hcatons True Boy was returned the winner in the third race, which was at a mile and an eighth. Jack Horgan was the favored one in the race and he landed in second place, with Indra lasting to be third. The outsiders, Ohio. Know-Me-Gnome and Golden Sight figured extensively in the early racing, but when the real test came they were quickly relegated to the rear and True Boy and Jack Horgan, coming from far back, moved into prominence and they fought it .out during the stretch run. THREE 1».!S STABLE COLORS. The Three Ds Stable made an auspicious start when its Double Heart was home in advance of the thirteen others that raced with him. The youngsters were an unruly band and it was some time before the starter could affect a send-off. It found French Lane and Btssie Alix away poorly and Alto was another to suffer. The speedy Coal Black, beginning fast, showed fine speed and "disposed of Chicleight, but succumbed readily to the challenge of Double Heart in the last eighth. Double Heart raced like a good colt. ■galloping the five-eighths in 1:00 and establishing a new track record. Rurik. owned by the Chicago Stable, furnished an outstanding surprise of the afternoon when he was winner of he fifth race. He led for the entire distance and was easing up in the last seventy yards. Mi Com-panero, another outsider, landed in second place. Blackwood, the pronounced favorite, was a disappointment. He finished in third placo.
