CAPTURES FRENCH OAKS SPECIAL CABLEGRAM. PARIS, France, June 4. — Before what was believed to be the largest crowd that ever thronged a French race course. Lady Mortimer Davis filly Mary Legand won the Prix de Diane the French Oaks at Chantilly yesterday. The filly was ridden by Frankie Keogh, the American jockey, and she defeated a field of twenty-three rivals. Last year Fairy Legand, a full sister of Mary Legend, won the same stake under the colors of the late Sir Mortimer Davis. She also was ridden by Keogh. The last two Oaks winners are daughters of Dark Legand — Congressisle. Marcel Boussacs Merry Girl was second to Mary Legand and Count de Chavagfiacs Tanais was third. Among the unplaced starters were E. Martinez de Hoz Moonshine, Jefferson Davis Cobns Quinine and Jean Pratts Ruth. The winners share was more than three hundred thousand francs.
