IN SUCCESSFUL DEBUT • T. S. Jordan Victorious in First Appearance at Arlington Park « Doctor Fred Triumphs for Third Consecutive Time — Boris Outstays Machete in First. ♦ ARLINGTON" HEIGHTS. 111., June 14.— Stuyvesant Peabodys T. S. Jordan, making his initial appearance over the Arlington track, made his debut a successful one when he beat home some well thought of sprinters which raced with him in the feature contest. He won with much in reserve after having led for practically the entire distance. There was considerable post delay, due to the fractiouFness of most of the starters, and they were dispatched with Rolls Royce having considerable advantage, but it did not avail him to any degree except that he was in a position to destroy a winning chance for King Basil when that racer came with a rush after Peternel, on Rolls Royce, blocked him sharply and threw him off his stride. T. S. Jordan, with a fine display of speed, raced into a good lead at once. Lady Marie being his closest pursuer after the first quarter. The latter had been away in a tangle and was used considerably in an effort to secure a vantage position in the early stages. She began tiring in the stretch and near the end hail «to be urged steadily to keep in advance of the fast-finishing King Basil, which managed to recover from his earlier interference and was going at a great rate of speed in the last eighth. Pine weather prevailed during the afternoon and some spectacular racing was the order, even if the card was not up to the standard of several previous days. The public fared well in its speculative operations, as most of the choices succeeded. chinn victory. P. T. Chinns colors were carried to victory for the first time during the meeting when Little Gyp was successful in outstaying Round Up by a slight margin in the third race. Round Up was the favorite, but Little Gyp attracted a voluminous play. The last eighth of the race found the pair close up, both striving hard, but Round Up gave way and then suddenly came again. He was short a few inches of overhauling Little Gyp. Round Up had slightly the best of it at the start and he swiftly went into a commanding lead. He had no mishaps. Semper Felix was best of the others and brought up in third place. Doctor Fred was the first triple winner of the meeting when he scored again in the mile and seventy yards race over the inner course. His success was in easy style and he ruled a well-supported favorite. Spanish Princess gave him the most contention in the early stages, but she began tiring when the final eighth was reached and it required hard urging to keep her in advance of Bun at the finish. Bun raced well, but Vachell seemed at a loss to get fully in his stride and raced far out of it for three-quarters, coming with a rush through the stretch to land in fourth place. The others in the race were well beaten. It was the first time that the mile and seventy yards was raced over a fast track, consequently the reduction in the track record from t:51s to 1 :434s occasioned no surprise. AMDEX SUCCESS. The J. N. Camden successes continue, and Boris was one to contribute a purse to that owners account when he scored in the opening dash from Machete, with Shasta Plum landing third. Boris was a pronounced favorite, and there was some concern felt by his backers when he suffered interference at the start and later lacked racing room, forcing him to the rear division. He came like a shot when clear and. saving ground into the stretch, wore down Mildred Wood with ease and had enough in reserve to stall off Machete. Shasta Plain had no mishaps and raced prominently all the way, but had to be hard urged to wear down Mildred Wood near the em, for third place. Staying close to the inner rail in the last • three-eighths enabled Short Price to save much ground and gave him the lead when the field straightened out for the stretch racing. He gamely withstood the challenge offered by Tod Sloan and won by a small margin. Tod Sloan was probably best in the race, but he was raced wide from the start. San-utar, coming with a rush, finished in third place. Dolly Seth was the favorite in the race, with Geo. Groom and Short Price, as well as Twenty One Sixty, all having extensive following. Twenty One Sixty and Dolly Seth dominated until the Stretch turn. iw*iere both tired fast. The KentOfl Farm Stables Rainstorm furnished the only outstanding surprise when he got home in front of I r. klaxon and Gibbons in the sixth race. Rainstorm benefited by the pace that Dr. klaxon and Virginia Beauty forced . in the early stages and wore them down in the stretch. Gibbons, coming with a rush near the end, alroosl nipped Dr. Maxon f.»r second place. Dr. Maxon returned to the stand lame.
