FOUL MARS FRENCH DERBY Esling, on Kantar, Strikes Garner, Rider of Ivanhoe, and Is Immediately Suspended. PARIS, France, June 14. — During a thunder storm that made it difficult to distinguish the colors, Vicomte Olivier de Rivauds Le Cor-rege, by Dominion — La Campanula, won the Prix du Jockey Club French Derby at Chantilly last Sunday. Martinez de Hoz Ivanhoe finished second and Ogden Mills iAntar, third, but these positions were reversed by the stewards. Esling, who rode Kantar, claimed that Garner, Ivanhoes pilot, had fouled his mount in the running. While pulling up after passing the finish Esling struck Garner. Esling was suspended until June 24. It is believed that continual reducing has affected Esling physically. He has been in a nervous, excitable condition for a considerable time. Joseph E. Wideners Winnipeg was decisively defeated. The colt was well up to the turn, where he began to drop back. Jockey M. McGee, who had the mount, said that the son of Rabelais — Whydah seems to lose his action in the mud. The going was heavy. The twenty starters raced under conditions that could not have been worse. The Prix du Jockey Club is for three-year-old colts and fillies. It is run over the mile and a half distance and has a value of 500,-000 francs.
