LATONIA, Ky., June 19. — Another invader augmented the ranks of assembling candidates for Saturdays renewal of the 5,000 added Latonia Derby when Phil Reuters Galahad, the German-bred gelding, reached the course this morning. Galahad came in company with two other of the Reuter horses and Lucas B. Combs four-year-old Broadside. The latter will be raced here in charge of G. Hughes. Galahad stood the trip from St. Louis in fine fashion and, barring an accident, is a certain starter in the race, regardless of track conditions. Reuter is expected here on Friday. Mose Lowenstein, trainer of Leo J. Marks Misstep, one of the choices for the Derby, arrived this morning from Chicago. He wasted little time getting the son of Upset on the heavy track for his initial gallop and prescribed an easy three-eighths for the Fairmount Derby winner. Breezing easily, he was timed in :26 for one-quarter and pulled up the three-eighths in :41. In discussing the colts present condition, Lowenstein said that he seemed in fine fettle, and that while he would prefer a fast tracJt for Saturdays race he is confident that Misstep will prove difficult to beat over any variety of going. Lowenstein affirmed the report that former jockey W. Knapp will train the horses of the Belle Isle Stable in the future. Knapp will take the few racers of that establishment to New York. In view of the fact that the division of the Audley Farm Stable that Miller Henderson has at Fairmount Park will be somewhat inactive the next few days jockey Russell was permitted to return here. He reported that Henderson intends to ship Bobashela, which with Easter Stockings, will carry the Audley Farm colors in the Latonia Derby, to Latonia from Fairmount Wednesday night. Several other of the stalle horses will accompany Bobashela, and Henderson is coming along to supervise their training and campaigning. Leo J. Marks, owner of Misstep, and a large party of friends will arrive here on Friday and remain until after the running of the Derby.
