1 CONNAUGHT TURF NOTES 4 4 OTTAWA, Ont., June 5. P. L. Ciceris Real Artist was excused by the stewards from the seventh, owing to his inability to give his best over a wet racing strip. The next meeting of the Canadian Racing Associations to pass on licenses for trainers and riders will take place Friday morning in the club house at Connaught Park. His Excellency Lord Wiiiingdon, accompanied by his personal staff, arrived at Con-naught Park previous to the first race, and was taken on an inspection tour of the plant. Thirty-five riders registered with John J. Farrell, custodian of the jockeys quarters, and most of them were seen in silks during the opening afternoons sport at Connaught Park. Thirty-five horses were placed on the preferred list to be given first preference when next entered under one mile, while six will be given preference over a mile.
