KENTUCKY DERBY NEXT Americas Famous Classic to Be Run Next Sat ¬ urday Gallant Fox Hot Favorite Michigan Boy and Woodcraft Out Latest Gossip and Probable Field 4 Now for the Kentucky Derby The fiftysixth running of Americas most famous race will be decided at Churchill Downs next Saturday With the Preak ¬ ness a matter of history the attention of the turf world turns to the blue grass state of Kentucky the thoroughbred nursery of the country The result of the Preakness does not greatly alter the probable field for the Churchill Downs classic Only two withdrawals of note have been made because of that contest Woodcraft was injured and will not be able to race until late in the summer Michigan Boy will be shipped to Chicago and given a well deserved rest his owner being of the opinion that the Louisiana Derby winner has had too much racing Gallant Fox the winner of the Preakness and Crack Brigade which finished second leave Maryland Sunday for Louisville and are reported Michigan Boy winner of the Louisiana Derby has come to the conclusion that the colt has had enough racing for awhile and instead of shipping him to Churchill Downs will send the colt on to Chicago where he will be freshened up Michigan Boy ran a good race to finish fourth in the Preakness He was handled none too well and suffered interference dur ¬ ing the running runningTrainer Trainer Miller Henderson announced that Woodcraft came out of the Preakness with a quarter crack which of course means that he is out of the Derby No attempt will be made to race the colt until midsummer
