REICHERT PAIR IN FRONT Brown Wisdom My Dandy Lead in Inaugural at Fairmount Collins Racers Ridden by Thomas Meet ffltli Success In Brilliant Open OpenifSS ifSS in a CollinsvIIIc COLLINSVILLE 111 May 10 Brown Wis ¬ dom and My Dandy the two excellent sprint ¬ ers owned by W C and E W Reichert had the major portions of the Fairmount Inaugural Handicap between them this aft ¬ ernoon Brown Wisdom winning and My Dandy finishing second Nellie Custis a Sir Barton filly running for the Audley Farm stable and making her first start of the year was third thirdThe The Inaugural was the feature of a splen ¬ did card arranged for the opening of the fortynineday meeting The program offered a grade of racing far surpassing the aver ¬ age of the past at this track The Inaugural was decided over the distance of threequar ¬ ters of a mile the track record for which was set by My Dandy back in 1928 1928Todays Todays races were attended by a crowd approaching the largest that has ever been present at this track and the first sound of the bugle was received with enthusiasm that augurs well for the success of the long meeting meetingWhile While it was not until Thistle Arious won the third race that a public favorite was suc ¬ cessful the result of every race was popular The mutuel play in every event was highly satisfactory to The Fairmount Jockey Club ClubThe The colors of George Collins which were so prominent during the Lexington meeting were very conspicuous They were carried to victory first by Thistle Arious and in the next race by Patricia Marian MarianAlex Alex AVoodliffe aged son of Torchbearer furnished a surprise when he scored a clever victory in the six furlongs of the first race when he led home John Speed King at Arms and nine others of trie low grade sprint ¬ ing class classThe The winner cleverly handled by the vet ¬ eran Clyde Ponce followed the pace to the stretch where he responded to hard urg ¬ ing and wore down John Speed to gain the verdict by a half length while the King Bruce stable representative got the place by a length in front of King at Arms which was up in time to get third from the fast finishing Bunthorne BunthorneJohn John Speed was the favored one in this and after leading to the final eighth gave way to the winner winnerMerry Merry Windsor racing in the colors of the Woodvale Farm got away with the honors in the second number when she led through ¬ out Ragabald raced to the place with Domina leading the heavily supported Malolo for third thirdThe The winner was indulged in setting the pace and under slight restraint easily with ¬ stood the challenges of Ragabald and Domina which alternated in pursuit of the winner Malolo held at almost prohibitive odds failed to race to expectations for he was outrun throughout though he made up some ground during the waning part of the contest contestGeorge George Collins Thistle Arious scored a well earned victory over a band of distance performers when he came from behind in a thrilling stretch contest and got up in time to win by a scant halflength over Finland which got the place from Fore ¬ caster Mascara led the balance but by a short margin for fourth honors and her belated rush earned her placing by a head over Marabou and Miles Prior which fin ¬ ished in such close alignment that only the judges could separate them The win ¬ ner was the first favorite to make good for the players of form therefore his victory was a popular one onePatricia Patricia Marian the sturdy daughter of Sir John Johnson and Love Story made it two straight victories for George Collins when she romped to an easy victory in the Coilinsville Merchants Purse over the one mile an onesixteenth fourth race Hedcliffe under the colors of the Black Dot Stable furnished the most contention for the winner when he raced to the place in advance of Mole Hill which led home By Product Lon gus Corbeau and Skibo the other starters startersThe The winner under the alert II Thomas broke in a forward position and the rider lost no time in sending the little mare to the lead and under steadying restraint she set a fast pace and although Mole Hill and Redcliffe threatened to wrest the lead from her she drew away again in the stretch to hpld a lead of two lengths at the end Redcliffe and Mole Hill fought it out for the place with the former proving gamer of the two Mole Hill had no difficulty earning third money as he had a fourlength margin over By Product when the finish was reached reachedIn In winning this jockey Harold Thomas registered his second consecutive victory George Ogle the Oklahoma patron was an arrival from Tulsa with three head com ¬ prising Morocco Sweet Mandy and The Padre
