FAIR GROUNDS TURF NOTES f $ ; Little Toots ran away two miles after unseating her rider while being galloped at the Fair Grounds this morning. L. Genard and L. Jenpeau, of Chicago, were guests of A. Pelleteri, local owner, at the Fair Grounds Thursday. J. W. Burrell w.as another Chicagoan among the visitors today. Additional nominations for the 0,000 added Louisiana Derby, the principal Fair Grounds feature and closing Saturday, included S. W. Labrots Springsteel, Sir Kendal and Skidmore and the Three Ds Stock Farms Texas Knight and Sir Melton. R. G. Denny, trainer of the stable of A. B. Letellier, quartered at the Fair Grounds, was advised of the sudden death of his brother, Logan Denny, at Miami last night. Carlos Ormsby returned from Louisville where he was called by the death of his father. R. C. Thatcher, owner of a large stable here in charge of W. "Chappy" Sims, was an arrival from Pueblo, Colo., where he makes his home. Mr. Thatcher plans a months stay here. Visitors at Fair Grounds today included James N. Brunell, prominent racing and hunts enthusiast of Rye, N. Y. Wednesday, February 3, will be ladies day at the Fair Grounds and the program on that day will include races named for the Frigate Ironsides, U. S. S. Arkansas, and the U. S. S. Grebe. Officers and men on the three boats will be guests of the Louisiana Jockey Club. John O. Keene, who returned here Wednesday from Miami, is to remain here about two weeks, following which he returns to Miami. A number of his horses here are ready for racing while the division of his Keeneland Stud at Hialeah Park will not be ready for two weeks.
