ARLINGTONS NEW POLICY Schedule for 1932 Meeting Calls for a Stake Feature Daily. Thirty Fixtures Provided Ranging in Value From ,500 Added to 0,000 Added for a Total of 52,500. 1 Signalizing its elevation to a position among the leaders of American race courses, Arlington Park is offering for its thirty-day meeting from June 27 to July 30 a racing schedule calling for a stake feature daily, a policy not duplicated by its contemporaries, Belmont Park and Saratoga. The program of thirty events, to which the Arlington Park Jockey Club will add a total of 52,500, is headlined by ten major stakes, including the 0,000 Classic, 5,000 Arlington Futurity and 0,000 Arlington Lassie Stakes. To each of these ten events Chicagos greatest race track will add from ,000 up to 0,000 to entrance and starting fees, while each of the other score of stakes, which will cater to all classes of thoroughbreds, will be endowed with ,500. Of the twenty ,500 stakes eight will be for two-year-olds at five and one-half furlongs each; five will be for three-year-olds at one mile or one mile and an eighth, and seven will be for three-year-olds and older horses from one mile up to a mile and a half. Racing secretary Joseph McLennan will issue nomination blanks for these twenty stakes after the close of entries on March 15 of seven of the ten major attractions. Closing date for the former set of events, as well as for the ,000 Arlington Inaugural Handicap at seven furlongs has been fixed for June 1, which is also the time when supplementary nominations must be made to the Classic, Stars and Stripes, Arlington Handicap, Arlington Gold Cup, Arlington Matron, Arlington Oaks and Hyde Park Stakes. Entries to the latter features must be made before March 15. The idea of having a stakes attraction daily has been before the Arlington Park management ever since the beautiful North Side course was acquired by a group of Chicagos civic leaders and prominent sportsmen three years ago, and the growing popularity of the big racing establishment made the plan feasible for this years meeting. For years the most notable race meetings in America have been conducted at Belmont Park and Saratoga, .but, while these great eastern tracks have pretentious stakes programs, they have never adopted the stake-a-day policy that goes into effect this summer at Arlington Park. Last season the silks of C. V. Whitney, Mrs. Payne Whitney, Joseph E. Widener, K. E. Hitt, William Ziegler, Jr., A. C. Bostwick, William Woodward, etc., were seen in competition at the local course and this year these, as well as other leading eastern owners, are expected to have important representation here. 1 !
