il HIALEAH PARK GOSSIP Maj. Louis Beard, who looks after the racing interests of the Greeritree Stable and Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney, was an arrival from Kentucky. Major Beard, a noted polo player at one time and a very capable horseman, plans to remain for an extended stay. J. E. Widener has received a cable from the Societe de Encouragement of France asking for a photograph and a description of the totalizator installed at Hialeah Park. In France, where the pari-mutuel system of wagering is used, the racing is under government control. Jockey K. Horvath made a hurried departure for Wilmington, Del., on receipt of a telegram notifying him of the death of his father. J. I. Smith has arranged for the shipment of three of the H. Teller Archibald horses, Westys Rose, Westys Lad and Westys Star to Cuba. They leave in the Frank J. Kearns car. Last Bid, Back Log and Helianthus are the latest additions to the schooling list. Apprentice Hank Mills, who was suspended for rough riding on Light Air Wednesday, was granted permission to ride Impish in the Hialeah Park Handicap for his contract employer, The Wheatley Stable. The new rules of racing adopted by the state commission provide that a jockey may fill stake engagements for his contract em--ployer if he has been suspended for an of- fence while riding an outside mount. Mills is on the third day of his five day suspension. Jockey L. "Buddy" Ensor, who staged a successful comeback at Oriental Park this winter, is an arrival at Hialeah Park and expects to resume riding here. Charlie Zoel-ler is making the engagements for him. Joe Edwards reports that he plans to throw his good three-year-old Allenfern out of training. The colts knees and ankles will be unchfired and he will therefore be unable to fill his Florida Derby engagement The horses which trainer A. Tavenner shipped from Agua Caliente here for J. P. Crawford of Pittsburgh Pa., are Gailmont, Dunrock, Lindby, Danish Prince and Polish Prince.
