PRETTY PENNY, away forwardly, showed good speed, but was taken behind the pace for three-quarters and closed gamely. HAZEL GUMBERTS, hard urged all the way, raced closer up than usual and held on well. KENSINGTON, hard held until the stretch turn, took command with . rush, then quit in the final eighth. HELIOS began fast, but was crowded back when the winner crossed over. ROYAL PURCHASE raced evenly. JUDGE JUDY was away slowly and closed a big gap. BATTY, away forwardly, but taken back sharply going out of the chute, moved up resolutely on the outside on the turn, but was carried wide by STAR LASSIE and lost much ground, then responded gamely and outlasted the others. STAR LASSIE, restrained for half a mile, improved her position steadily between the leaders while bearing out, then came again and was wearing down the winner. KINCSEN, on the inside for seven-eighths, suffered repeated interference, but closed gamely and shook off WATERWAY in the stretch. The latter, a factor throughout, raced RACCOON into defeat on the lower turn, took a short lead, then tired. ROYAL RUFFIN, carried wide most of the way, finished resolutely. COMSTOCKERY, hard ridden, raced evenly. SUNFIRE, far back early, closed a big gap. IMPISH could not get up. RACCOON quit.
