Tfair grounds turf notes I $ Jockey R. Finnerty, a local boy and a recent arrival from Miami, has affiliated with the stable of Roy Slomer, and the latter will make his riding engagements. Jockey Carl Meyer, who had his left foot injured when forced into the fence in the fifth race Saturday, while astride Sazerac, was forced to cancel his engagements Monday. Train R. "Bob" White, who has charge of the P. C. Thompson horses, narrowly escaped serious injury Sunday when kicked by Molly Hogan. White received abrasions about the face. Albert Mott, who is making the engagements of jockey Willie Garner, has taken over the book of jockey R. Morrison. The condition of Eugene Lutz, Cincinnati turfman, who underwent an operation here yesterday, was reported as satisfactory today. Jockey Willie Garner, under short suspension for rough riding, was allowed to fill his engagement on Sarietta in the Rex Handicap today by special permission of the stewards. Nominations for the Jack L. Dempsey Memorial Handicap, to be run for the third time at the Fair -Grounds Saturday, February 20, will close Saturday. This event is open to three-year-olds and older horses and will be run at a mile. A subscription fee of 0 per entry prevails, and starters pay 5 additional to the winner.
