i j i j a r------------------------------.... . . ...t SAME LIBERAL POLICY AT HAWTHORNE j There will be no change of policy at Hawthorne during the 1932 August meeting. The Hawthorne Handicap, 5,000 added, the Gold Cup of the same value, the Illinois Owners Handicap, 0,000 added, and the Chicago Juvenile, at the same amount, will be continued as fixtures, closing during the early days of the Arlington meeting in July. Hawthornes set policy of late closing of stakes so that a3 far as possible all burden of expense may be taken from the horsemen, and the further advantage of securing practically every horse in training at the time will be carried out. During the meeting there will also be run features running from ,500 to ,000, as it has been the policy lately not to include in any early closing stakes those which have not a value of over ,000. As in previous years the minimum purse will be ,200, and in every other par-1 ticular the standard always maintained at Hawthorne will be upheld. This was determined yesterday at a meeting of the Board of Directors when the plans of general manager Joseph A. Murphy, who Is spending some days in the 1 city, were submitted and approved. i 4
