BILL ORANGE improved and quick to get going, was under light restraint the first half mile, came away rapidly after straightening out in the stretch and won handily. HALF DAY, a strong factor in the early stages, dropped back at the stretch turn, but came again strongly through the final quarter. TWISTED THREADS worked his way to the lead on the inside, saved ground at the turn and tired badly in the final drive. AQUA VITAE quit in the final stages. ST. JIM had no mishaps. Won easily; second and third driving. MARLENE, much the best, drew away fast after reaching the turn and, maintaining a fast pace for the going to the end, won well in hand. KAY FRANCES moved up fast rounding the far turn, bore out slightly entering the stretch and, holding on. fairly well, outstayed PRINCESS CRUSADER. The latter dropped out of it, but made up ground gradually in the last three-eighths. MAGNA MATER quit badly after a half mile. DOLLYS BABY showed a dull effort. WISE GRETCHEN had early speed. SEA SIREN bolted. NITUMA rapidly improved her position in the opening eighth, gradually came away from MISS CAREFUL after straightening out in the stretch and, maintaining exceptional speed to the end, won with something left. MISS CAREFUL began fast, saved ground throughout and gave ground slowly to the winner under strong pressure, but was vastly best of the others. SPANISH WAY lost ground early, raced determinedly arid disposed of JUSTICE LOGAN in the final eighth. MICHIGAN LAD closed ground after beginning slowly. WEIDELEEN, away slowly, came across sharply going into the turn, drew clear quickly and, continuing well thereafter, held her position safe. PLUMAGE came to the extreme outside entering the stretch and, finishing strongest of all, was getting to the winner. MY SWEETS began fast, was in tight quarters at the far turn and rallied mildly entering the stretch, but tired. ELIZABETH BOLLA met interference after going a quarter and quit. The latter began slowly, saved ground when working his way up and tired after getting on even terms with the winner in the final fifty yards. TIGER FLOWERS, a factor throughout, quit in the drive. SISTONY moved up mildly at the stretch turn, but weakened in the drive. HIGH STORM, well in hand the first three-quarters, failed to rally when shaken up, but held the others safe. VOLE closed some ground in the stretch.
