JOCKEY W. WESTROPE DEAD Injuries Sustained in a Fall at Agua Caliente Friday Prove Fatal to Young Rider. AGUA CALIENTE, Mexico, Feb. 29. Funeral services for jockey W. Westrope, who died Saturday night as a result of injuries sustained Friday, were held at Glen Abbey Memorial Chapel, Chula Vista, today. The following fellow jockeys of the deceased served as pallbearers: D. Porter, M. Sielaff, C. King, W. Wright, H. Maddux, and J. Scurlock. Westrope, who was thrown from Nueva Alta after the finish of the third race Friday, died of his injuries at Mercy Hospital at San Diego late Saturday night. The boy, who had been riding less than one year, was sixteen years old and was considered one of the most capable lightweight pilots at the track. He hailed from Baker, Mont., and was under contract to his father, W. T. Westrope.
