MORROW COLORS VICTORIOUS Harold Jr. and Jockey J. McLaren Winning Combination in Sportsmans Park Headliner. CICERO, 111., May 20.— Harold Jr., under the colors of J. B. Morrow and capably ridden by apprentice J. McLaren, made good in impressive fashion in the River Forest Purse the outstanding race on todays card when he proved best of the juveniles that started. Miss Hutcheson was second and Maechute third. Stambul was the first to show out of the bunch when the field started, but his failure to take the sharp turns proved his undoing, and he failed to keep pace with the more successful ones and finished in last place. Then Miss Hutcheson took up the pacemaking task, but she was no match for the winner when the real test came, and readily relinquished the lead as the ultimate winner rushed past her on the rail. However, she easily outstayed Maechute for pla.ee honors, while the latter managed to get up in the final strides for third money. The largest crowd of the meeting was on hand, and this was attributed to the free admission of the ladies who were the guests of the management. Giblets, under a clever ride by Melvin Knight, scored in a driving finish from Annate B. and Spanish Flirt, the favorite, finished third in the first race. The winner, in close attendance from the start, went around the leaders entering the stretch and wore down Annete B. to win drawing clear. The latter, racing in improved form, opened up a long lead at the start, but gave way right at the end. The second race resulted in another surprise win when Western Princess proved best of her company, leading from start to finish, and winning by two and a half lengths, while Mad Mullah, which had a rough journey, took second honors and Regal Knight got up to be third. Thistle Vic, which has been a victim of rough riding in his previous starts, went through Continued on eleventh ■page. MORROW COLORS VICTORIOUS Continued from first page. a similar process again. He was virtually eliminated soon after the start when he was almost thrown and jockey Lester Dye was lucky to keep his mount on his feet. Mad Mullah was-another that got a good going over and would have been a keen contender with better racing luck, as he was racing strongly when apprentice McLaren had to pull up. Kingsport, the favorite, was forced back so sharply after going a half that jockey Reeves eased him up and he finished last in the field of ten.
