SPR1NG5TEEL moved up leaving the back stretch, went to the outside in the stretch and, closing resolutely, was up to -win in the final strides. SOLACE, close up throughout, took command when VACILLATE began tiring in the closing sixteenth, but was unable to withstand the winner. VACILLATE showed the most early speed and, drawing into a long lead, could not withstand the challenge of the first two. MAGNIFICO forced the earlv pace, then tired. PARDEE showed early speed. BALD CREST, held on well, but could not menace the winner. SPRING VIOLET raced well and finished gamely. CROFTER, away fast, dropped back, but was going well at the end. KHAKI JOHN saved ground in the stretch. KINGS BOUNTY bore out badly on the stretch turn. DIE CAST was in close quarters soon after the start. KING OCONNOR, slow to get going, moved up gamely in the last half mile, but could not overtake the winner. SPEY CREST, in hand early, moved up when called upon and finished gamelv. SHADY WELL closed a gap. EASTER HATTER set the pace, then tired. BRONZE, an early trailer, closed resolutely. MISS GORMLEY showed speed. Scratched— 65429= Sky gazer, 127.
