TECHNIQUE lost ground, but raced gamely under strong urging. NEVER QUIT was a factor throughout. CURLY HEAD was in close quarters soon after the start. SWEET FLAG, fractions at the post, raced on the extreme outside for three eighths. SOUTHARD was outrun. The later, probably much the best and overconfidently ridden, remained far back, was blocked after swerving behind the leaders in the stretch and closed fastest of all. CHARLIE BERGIN lost ground, but closed fast. RUSTY was used up racing with PARNELL BOUND. The latter quit. BILLY JONES bore in badly most of the way. BACK LOG began slowly and sulked.
