AU REYOIR AT AURORA ♦ War Saint Proves Champion of Meeting in Taking Closing Feature. ♦ Bquals Track Record to Beat War . Glow and Burning Up, With Favorite, Dr. Freeland, Fourth. * AURORA, 111., May 21.— The speedy and consistent War Saint, which races for F. G. Haller, became the champion thoroughbred of the Exposition Park meeting when he easily won the Judge Henry Horner Handicap, which featured the closing days card. In running six furlongs in 1:11%, to equal the track record, the gelding registered his fifth straight victory and his third at the meeting. The five-year-old son of St. James — War Goddess led all the way to defeat War Glow by three lengths, while Burning Up finished third. Dr. Freeland, the short priced favorite, was a poor fourth. A splendid crowd was out to witness the concluding days sport at the Fox River Valley track, and favorite players had a rough day as the choices failed with regularity in the early races, few finishing in the money. The weather was much cooler than that of Friday, but the track was fast. Sunny Sideup, a recent winner at this track, came through with another victory in the first race when she took the measure of a large band of fairly good two-year-olds. With jockey McCoy astride the filly, she saved all possible ground and bested Monks Bela, the pacemaker, at the finish. Pana Franka, the favorite, was without an excuse and could do no better than be third. The race was at five furlongs and the winner was but mildly supported. Runar earned her second purse of the meeting when she defeated a band of distance runners in the second race. Jockey Neel cut across with the filly soon after the start to get her to the front and, although never headed, she was forced to do her best at the end to hold Happy Lad safe. Third money went to Vanquish, the favorite, which lost much ground by being carried wide. The race was over one and one-sixteenth miles. Tufinuf. from the Chicago-owned Lyda Mae Stock Farm, won his second race of the meeting when he took the third race. Jockey Neel, who had ridden the previous winner, had the gelding close to the leader at all stages and put up a good finish fight to best Beleveitornot by a head. Agnes Sorel was a close third. Tufinuf paid 0.06. It was the second time during the meeting that Tufinuf had figured in a long priced daily double. He was part of the combination that paid ,132.24 early in the meeting, and with Runar, winner of the second race today, paid 41.52 in the daily double. The horses of B. Suhr and A. Wallin will be shipped to Riverside Park, Kansas City, Sunday. Jockey George Woolf, who came East to ride Gallant Sir in the Kentucky Derby, was an arrival and had the mount on Dr. Freeland in the feature race. Don Meade, who rode well in Maryland, also checked in. He is under contract to Tony Pelleteri and will ride for that sportsman at Washington Park. Jockey R. Tilden was suspended for ten days for cutting across in front of the others with Runar in the sixth race Thursday.
