SUNNY SIDEUP began well and, saving much ground on the stretch turn, hugged the rail in the stretch and outlasted MONKS BELA in the final drive. The latter sprinted to the front soon after the start, opened up a good lead, but could not resist the winner. PANA FRANKA began quickly, but was outpaced and had no excuses. JOE MACAW raced well. UNTIMELY and LERACK showed early speed. VENETIAN GIRL raced wide most of the way. Scratched— 70830 Trakaw, 101. RUNAR began well and, taking a good lead soon after the start, was never headed, although forced to do his best at the end to hold HAPPY LAD safe. The latter came gamely in the stretch, met interference from the winner at mid-stretch and was gaining slowly. VANQUISH was carried wide in the first half mile by POPCORN and, although finishing gamely, did not threaten the leaders. CESARE was in close quarters early and tired. POPCORN was also pocketed soon after the start when RUNAR bore over. LAURIE quit badly. ANDORA also challenged in the stretch and overtook RUN ON. The latter showed early speed, then tired. NOAHS PRIDE was in close quarters early, was pocketed on the stretch turn and went wide, but finished well. LIBERTY ACE and IRFANEH tired. BURNING UP raced gamely at the end. DR. FREELAND began slowly and would not respond to punishment and raced wide on the stretch turn. SHERAB was outrun. JACK ALEXANDER also tired. GOLDEN PLAY met interference. LADY BIENVILLE sulked.
