SPORTSMANS PARK FINALE First Meeting at Chicagos New Half Mile Track Comes to Successful Conclusion. CICERO, 111., May 21.— Discussing the eighteen day racing session at Sportsmans Park, which came to an end this afternoon, E. J. OHare, president and general manager of the National Jockey Club, said: "It is only natural that we should feel elated over the success of our first meeting. It has been conclusively demonstrated the Chicago racing public likes half-mile racing. The attendance exceeded our fondest expectations, while the amount wagered daily was remarkable, considering present financial co*wrrTT 3fcwOur next meeting will start on October 10, ynd run for nineteen days, concluding Ottocer 31. We announced these dates some months ago, and we are keeping faith with the public. Sportsmans Park was dedicated to clean racing and we are proud of the record made this spring. Our officials always will be backed to the limit in their endeavor to keep the sport on a high plane. "I desire to thank all who contributed to the success of the meeting and can assure Illinois racing patrons that no expense will be spared in providing honest racing at all times. F. E. Moores Home Work finished the meeting with a clean score when he won his fourth race in as many starts in accounting for the Au Revoir Handicap, which topped the card here for closing day. Home Work found the opposition more formidable today, as he was forced to the limit to get a head decision over P. N. Kyles Semester. The largest crowd of the meeting was in attendance to bid farewell to the half-milers until next fall, when they will have another meeting of nineteen days.
