ARLINGTON STAKES | CLOSE TODAY I Joseph McLennan, racing secretary of the Arlington Park Jockey Club, issued the final call to horsemen for nominations to the twenty-one minor stakes closing Wednesday, June 1. In addition to entries to these events, the supplementary closing of the Classic, Arlington and Stars and Stripes Handicaps, Arlington Gold Cup, Arlington Oaks, Arlington Matron Handicap and Hyde Park Stakes will take place also. The ,000 added Arlington Inaugural Handicap, feature of the opening, June 27, of the thirty-day meeting, heads the twenty-one minor events, the others each having a value of ,500 added. These attractions and the nine major offerings will provide local racing fans with a stake feature daily, a policy not attempted at any other American race meeting of importance. The sum of 52,500 will be added by the Arlington Park management to the thirty stakes and the total distribution to horsemen during the meeting . should surpass 00,000. Of the twenty-one stakes closing Wednes- ■ day, eight are for juveniles, five for three- ; year-olds and eight for three-year-olds and older horses. The distances range from five and a half furlongs to one mile and a half. Other conditions of the events have been arranged by McLennan to suit the various divisions of horses above the middle class selling plater.
