AXIA, close up from the start, came through an opening on the stretch turn and, taking a long load, tired in the closing sixteenth and was doing his best at the end. FLYING FLEET was unable to keep up early, but finished wearing down the winner. BIANOZ showed early speed and held on fairly well. ALPERS was racing gamely at the end. SILVERDALE, in close quarters behind JUDGE PRIMROSE in the early stages, went to the outside of the latter in the stretch and, taking the lead, was never in danger thereafter. PORTMANTEAU saved ground in the stretch and finished gamely on the inside. BROAD MEADOWS was close up throughout. THISTLE ACE hugged the rail in the stretch. HYMAN raced fairly well. JEAN LAFITTE tired as if short. CHICSU could not keep up. Maibens ride on the winner was a masterpiece.
