BLUE BONNETS TURF NOTES ?1 s 1 Jockey E, Smith, who led the list of winning riders during the recent meeting at Connaught Park, was forced to cancel his mounts owing to being taken ill while preparing to fulfill his Friday engagements at Blue Bonnets. J. S. Flynn sent word that he was shipping a half dozen racers from Toronto immediately and preparations have been made to receive them on their arrival. Jockeys Frank Mann and A. Prain were arrivals from Toronto to augment the local riding colony. Gwynn R. Tompkins who, until this spring, handled a large division of the Brookmeade Stable for Mrs. George Sloan, is one of the stewards at Blue Bonnets. R. C. Utz, who transferred his racers from Aurora to Blue Bonnets, announced that his string arrived at the Montreal course without mishap. Milton A. Smith arrived with several useful performers which includes the shifty juvenile Imagale. The latter fulfilled his engagement in the renewal of the Kindergarten Stakes on Friday. E. D. Springer arrived with several horses that recently performed at the Long Branch meeting in Toronto. A division of the L. Gross stable is among those that are quartered at the local course. Jockeys N. Brooks and C. Jackson are the only colored riders performing in the saddle here. T. O. Webber, who raced a small string during the first year that racing was introduced at Blue Bonnets, has several of the Carl Clendenning stable in his charge at the Montreal course.
