TOMBEREAU sprinted into the lead soon after the start and, although tiring slightly near the finish, lasted to hold VERMAJO safe. The latter was in close quarters on the inside in the early stages, went to the outside in the stretch and barely missed. BEST MAN was a factor throughout. MURKY CLOUD met interference, but raced well. DARK AYR, shuffled back early, raced wide in the stretch. LOUIE DEAR could not overtake the leaders. MAID OF HONOR was in trouble after going half the distance. HERNANDO was used up racing into contention and had little left at the end. LITTLE CONNELLY saved ground where possible. PRINCE SULIEMAN and BRIGHT CHESTNUT were cut off on the far turn. STRIDEAWAY stumbled early and was eased back and later pulled up. OUR FANCY raced close up under light restraint to the stretch, moved up on even terms with the winner a sixteenth out, but ired. CATHOP was blocked while challenging in, the stretch, but continued gamely. MINTON was also going gamely in the stretch. .HIGHER tired. PROSE AND POETRY raced fairly well, but was never a serious threat. STREET SINGER was outrun all the way. KARL-EITEL and PHANTASIME showed early speed, but tired when the real racing began.
