AURORA BIDS FOR CHICAGO TURF PATRONAGE a CHANGES FALL DATES Exposition Park Opens Today for Earlier Autumn Meeting. lood Program Arranged for Inauguration Plenty of Good Racing Material Available. AURORA, III., Sept. 2. Exposition Park, determined to hold its place in the Illinois turf spotlight, will open its autumn meeting Saturday in the face of stiff opposition. fThe Fox River Valley course, which has provided Chicago turf fans with their sport in early spring for almost ten years, begins its fall racing at a time when it may rely .ypon a larger patronage than late in October. As the meeting conflicts with that at Lincoln Fields, it may be that Aurora faces an almost certain loss, but the association was unwilling to forego the early dates even at this risk and will expect the patronage of at least the sport fans living in the territory in which it is located. Originally scheduled to operate during the latter part of October when they would be forced to race in opposition to Sportsmans Park, the Exposition Park management decided to hold their meeting when the feather at least was in their favor. AUTUMN INAUGURAL HANDICAP. A good program has been lined up for opening day, the feature being the Autumn Inaugural Handicap, for a ,000 purse. The distance is three-quarters and, while the field is small, the five entered seem to be quite evenly matched. Golden Prince, which races for Abe Bartelsteiii of Chicago, is one of those entered, while the others are Out Bound, The Point, Polyp and Suniday. Eight races are listed and the majority of the events are well filled indicating that there will be no shortage of racing material at the track. "While upwards of 250 -horses are on the grounds, a great number of the horses that will take part in the meeting will be vanned from Hawthorne. Harry Unna, trainer of the Bartelstein string, has announced his intention of training at the Cicero course and having his steeds motored over, while Emil Denemark and numerous smaller owners will do likewise. Indications point to a fast track for the first days sport and the management has made arrangements to furnish the Chicago customers with adequate transportation facilities. Trains will be run regularly over the C, B. and Q. and the Chicago, Aurora and Elgin. The first race will go to the post each day at 2:30 Chicago time.
