Bradley purchased from Frederick Johnson the two-year-old, Fingal, which later raced in the colors and interests of his new owner in the Consolation Stakes. James Fitzsimmons returned from New York, accompanied by jockey T. Malley. The latter will resume riding Saturday, his suspension having expired. The veteran trainer spent the past few days at Aqueduct, R. A. Smith shipped the Brookmeade Stable to Belmont Park Friday, E. P. Howard received word from J. M. Smobt at Los Angeles that everything was progressing steadily at Santa Anita with the construction of the new track. Howard motored to Montreal to be on hand" for the opening at Blue Bonnets. William Brennan shipped the Greentree Stable to Belmont Park. Twenty Grand will be seen under colors during the meeting, Brennan stated. Ogden Mills, Secretary of the Treasury, arrived to witness the running of the Hope- ful and Saratoga Gold Cup. Funeral services for Col. S. L. James were held at Karks Funeral Parlors Friday morn-i; ing. Rev. Father Wilson of St. Clements Roman Catholic Church officiated. A large number of the deceased friends attended the ceremony. The body will be shipped to New Orleans for interment. The remains were accompanied by the immediate mem-j bers of his family.
