EIGHT STARTERS THE LIMIT BALTIMORE, Md., Sept. 2 After visiting the remodeled Hagerstown track and conferring with general manager Walter W. Willson, racing secretary Edward J. Br en-nan announced that he will limit his fields to eight horses during the five-day meeting beginning September 13. Hagerstowns half-mile strip, while one of the fastest in the country, is not quite as wide as Cumberland, where ten-horse fields are allowed. With seven races run at Hagerstown, fifty-six horses can start daily. As the thoroughbred colony will be limited to three hundred horses, there will be ample opportunity for every horseman. The C. M. Waite stall starting gate will be used by starter Edward S. Welter at Hagerstown. This is the same gate that was used at Belmont Park, and which will be employed at Havre de Grace, Laurel and Bowie. During his visit at Hagerstown, secretary Brennan was surprised by the keen interest displayed by the various business houses of that city in the meeting. Virtually every reserved seat .and box has been sold. Bus companies of this city, as well as those of Washington, Cumberland, Frederick, Martinsburg and other cities within easy riding distance of Hagerstown plan to run specials daily to the upstate track.
