LATONIAS ANNUAL FALL MEETING . Great Sport in Store for Patrons of Kentuckys Popular Track, With Rich Latonia Championship the Outstanding Feature of Racing LATONIA, Ky., Sept. 26. The annual autumn meeting of the Latonia Jockey Club, opening here on Wednesday, October 12, for a season of twenty-eight day3, will feature renewals of the Latonia Championship Stakes, Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes, Breeders Futurity and Latonia Cup. The Championship, exclusively for three-year-olds and decided over one mile and three-quarters, is the richest of the four, and while one of the leading classics in its division, does not greatly overshadow in importance the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes and Breeders Futurity, the valuable and coveted prizes for two-year-olds. The Cup is that long two and one-quarter miles gallop for three-year-olds and over that Latonia may never get along without, it is so popular with Ohio Valley racing enthusiasts. The Breeders Futurity, transferred from Lexington last year and run over the short distance of 170 feet less than six furlongs, will be renewed on October 15, the first Saturday of the meeting. In all ninety-two are eligible for the coming twenty-third annual running, and included among them are almost all of the more successful, outstanding and leading juveniles. With practically the same entry list for the mile Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes, the Futurity will serve as an excellent preliminary test or prologue to the Jockey Club Stakes and the two assure Latonias big following much of the principal autumn racing in this division. The Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes is that former Churchill Downs fall event, which has had such a great bearing on the Kentucky Derby, Americas premier classic for three-year-olds. With many of the 1933 Derby possibilities among those scheduled to contest, the coming thirteenth annual running will carry the same importance. For this, the second staging of the Jockey Club Stakes at Latonia, eligibles include Ladysman, Barn Swallow, Caterwaul, Dynastic, Hilena, Sun Archer, The Darb Technique, Esseff, Snaplock, Sun Alley, Sun Captor, Rapscallion, Pomposity and others to the number of seventy-one, or twenty-one under the number qualified for the Breeders Futurity. Starters for the latter will come from among Ladysman, Caterwaul, The Darb, Rapscallion, Technique, Liqueur, Northgalis, Dynastic, Jungle King, Sun Archer, Sun Captor, Sun Alley, Levaal, Le Bruyere, Barn Swallow, Royal Blunder, Trace Call and "others. Although a number of the more fashionable three-year-olds are on the shelf, and Faireno is headed toward winter quarters, the Latonia Championship may develop into one of the more interesting and important contests in recent runnings of the race. At this time it appears that Gusto, winner of the American Derby, Arlington Classic and other prizes and the leading money winner of the year, will head the field, and if he comes through the long mile and three-quarters grind successfully, will have just .Continued on twenty-second page. Osculator, Pompeius, Marmion, Gallant Sir, Mad Pursuit, Cee Tee, Rehoboth, Cathop, Sunmelus, Our Fancy, Mad Frump and a few others are expected to oppose Gusto in this great prize. Col. M. J. Winn, managing director of Latonia, will introduce the "daily double," popular duo-race betting novelty, here this fall. As at Lincoln Fields and other tracks, where it found instant popularity, the second and third races will be used in the "double."
