GRIMACE, under urging throughout, wore down DARK WAR in the stretch and had enough left to withstand WOOLY WEST. Tho latter, away slowly and rushed up fast, closed gamely and just failed to get up to win. DARK WAR, well placed, tired in the final drive. BURNING BEAUTY was a factor all the way, but tired near the end. DOWNFALL closed a gap. SPRING VIOLET tired in the stretch. HOT SPRING was away slowly. BALDY TINKER was never prominent. GLANEUR set tho pace all the way, opened up a good lead, but was no match for the winner. ROCKDALE, jumping in good stylo, tired in the last half mile. JUDGE FARDY bobbled at the sixth fence, but jumped well thereafter. KNOCKENARRIGAN fell at tho twelfth fence. COUNTERPANE ran out at the second fence.
