SMEAR, much the best and close up after five-sixteenths, came through between the leaders in the stretch and won easily. PARNELL BOUND began fast, dropped back slightly on the stretch turn, but held on well under pressure and outlasted TOMBEREAU. The latter showed good speed, raced wide and tired after five-eighths. SLASH, under strong urging in the final three-eighths, failed to improve his position. JAZ AGE tired in the stretch. NEW BABY, away slowly and far back for three-sixteenths, improved her position steadily and, wearing down KIEVETTE, was up to win in the closing strides. The latter, restrained on the turn, impeded FLYING ON before drawing clear and tired badly in the last fifty yards. PERFECT DREAM was in the deeper going for three eighths and, taken behind when KIEVETTE moved up on the outside on the stretch turn, tired under pressure. PLAYING ON showed speed from the start, met interference and tired badly. ANNIE ORMONT had no mishaps. POLLY E. showed early speed. MISS JUSTICE had no mishaps. LYDABELLE was outrun. GLADYS S. showed speed for three-eighths. DEB fell while at the post and lacked her usual speed. MARSE CHAN, impeded soon after the start and restrained for three-quarters, tired badly under pressure. CAPTAIN LOGAN stumbled when crowded shortly after the start, unseating his rider. LADY GIBSON, allowed to remain out of it the first three-quarters, closed resolutely and headed LADY JAY in the final strides. The latter had- speed, was well rated and weakened in the final three-sixteenths. CORBEAU flattened out badly when strongly urged in the final eighth.
