REAL WEIGHT CARRIER Special Correspondence. LONDON, England. Englands champion steeplechaser over the average park courses, Captain C. Brownhills Irish-bred gelding Drintyre, proved his mettle on the flat at the recent Newbury meeting when he shouldered the heavy burden of 170 pounds, and, giving from five to thirty-three pounds to his rivals, scored a handy victory in the two miles, one furlong United Services Cup Handicap. Drintyre, nine-year-old son of Drin-more and Lady Longwood, was ridden by his owner, but unfortunately, came out of the race very sore. Consequently, he will not start in the Cesarewitch Stakes, as originally intended. Drintyre once tried conclusions in the Grand National in 1931. He failed to complete the course. In the race that Drintyre won at Newbury, Mrs. G. S. L. Whitelaws Castlederg broke a fetlock during the running and was destroyed. The ten-year-old Irish-bred gelding, by My Prince Cymorette, had been a consistent racer under both codes of rules for Mrs. Whitelaw.
