OLD FIELD, away quickly and kept in near attendance of TRUE SENTIMENT, responded courageously to pressure and, vigorously ridden during the stretch run, was up nearing the end. TRUE SENTIMENT, hurried to the front and saving ground, was unable to resist OLD FIELD and faltered right at the end. FAIR BILLY, forwardly placed, held on well for the final drive. CANTERON, hard rushed while on the outside, had too much taken out of him and tired. GRAMARYE could not threaten the leaders when the real issue came. MISS TEENIE was held safe. MEMORIES DEAR, close up from the start, could not menace the winner after the opening three-eighths. WHISKING, lacking early speed, came with a rush in the final half mile. PENNATE improved his position gradually on the outside and was racing gamely at the finish. FOXIANA finished fast while in close quarters. VACILLATE had speed for a half. The others were outrun. The latter, reserved off the pace moved into contention with the winner and fought it out stubbornly. SEVEN VEILS, kept under pressure from the start, held on gamely to outlast MONEL.
