WINGFIELD MARES AT AUCTION Owner of Nevada Stock Farm Stable Arranges to Sell His Brood Mares November 16. LEXINGTON, Ky., Nov. 15 Thomas Carr Piatt, on receipt of instructions telegraphed from Reno, Nevada, by George Wingfield, president of the Nevada Stock Farm, today arranged with E. J. Tranter, president of the Fasig-Tipton Company, to sell in a special auction on Wednesday morning at 10:30 oclock, November 16, at the Lexington sales paddock, ten mares and twelve yearlings. These mares have been kept in Kentucky at Mr. Piatts Crestwood Farm through several breeding seasons and the weanlings to be sold were foaled at Crestwood. Mr. Piatt says that these are among the best mares in Kentucky and that the weanlings represent the best crop he has yet raised for Mr. Wingfield, and he calls attention to the fact that Hygro, Siskin, Tarpaulin, Chicleigh, Vishnu and other good ones carrying the Wingfield colors were all foaled at Crestwood. Among the weanlings are three by Epin-ard. In this connection, it is interesting to note that E. E. Coussell, director of the British Blood Stock Agency, writing from London under date of October 28, to Thomas B. Cromwell, Lexington, says: "Epinard has had a wonderful season, I think he has had twelve two-year-old winners in France this year. This must be beating all records in that country." There are three weanlings each by Supremus and General Thatcher and one each by Black Servant, Bubbling Over and Blue Larkspur, stallions at Col. E. R. Bradleys Idle Hour Farm.
