DAVOC, hard urged and saving ground, was placed to severe pressure in the final drive and drew away slowly near the finish. RHYMING showed early speed to hold a forward position and fought it out gamely. SUN CLOTHING, pinched back at the start, came through midway of the turn and finished gamely. GOOFUS began well. CHATTERDOO was unable to improve his position. REPEAL and BAR QUEEN began slowly. AMERICAN AIR. BAR QUEEN and ROCKLYN came very wide into the stretch. STEPBROTHER, quickest to get going, raced into a commanding lead entering the stretch and held sway thereafter. AIRY SPIRIT saved ground entering the stretch, swerved out in the final drive and was hard urged to stall off PEEDEEQUE. The latter, in close quarters on the turn, closed stoutly when securing room. PIMOCHIO raced on the inside and showed a good performance. BENDROMEL tired after the first eighth. BILLIES TRYST was forced to race en the outside all the way. LODORUS was pinched back early. SENADO, fencing stoutly, took command after the third fence and, rated to all of his fences thereafter, held DANIEL SOOT safe. The latter, saved for eight fences, challenged gamely going to the tenth obstacle, but was unable to wear down the winner. REVERENCE went along in the thick of contention and continued resolutely to the end. QUICK MARCH was held safe. HAMPSHIRE bobbled at several jumps. RUBY KELLER was far back most of the way. The others were outrun. SHAMUS fell at the second fence. CHERRY BRANDY lost his rider at the ninth jump and STEFAN JR. his at the twelfth. BALLY BAY took the lead going to the first turn, raced under restraint until leaving the back stretch, then held BOSCOBEL safe. The latter, close to the winner, challenged gamely near the stretch, but was not good enough. DAMASCENE, eased back going to the first turn, went around the others when moving up, but was no match for the first two. CANTERWOOD was easily best of the others. The latter, away very slowly when pinched back at the start, was rushed up on the inside and was fast overtaking the winner. SILVER-DALE forced a steady early pace, then tired in the closing eighth.
