MATA HARI raced into command with a rush, continued to increase her advantage at the elbow and? despite strong restraint, held her lead safe and won easily. SQUEEZE OUT began fast, bore out slightly on the turn and, holding on well, shook off OUR HOBBY in the closing eighth. The latter, forced out by SQUEEZE OUT on the turn, tired in the final eighth. COURLAND began toward the outside, lost much ground near the turn and could not get up. PHARAMAID lost much ground. VOLWOOD, probably best, was impeded by the winner, but recovered slowly and barely failed to get up. BICHLORIDE lost much ground, but was overtaking the winners at the end. SITFOLK closed a gap. SERGEANT HILL was on the outside all the way. HIGH DIVER tired badly. LE MINISTRE saved ground. BONNI VIEW, fractious and started from the outside, stumbled badly soon after the start. ROYAL BAGGAGE was badly outrun. EVEN PLAY bore out in the stretch and held on stubbornly, but failed to last. CHERRY TIME lost ground early, was taken back and to the inside in the stretch and held on fairly well. SABRE SLASH closed fast. SOUTHLAND DUKE had no mishaps. PRINCE STAR had to race wide. ESSEFF showed speed, saved ground throughout and, while overmatched, was best of the others. SLAPSTICK raced gamely under strong urging, but bore out in the final stages. NITUMA lost much ground. ELIZABETH FOX, placed on the outside at the start, lost ground early, but saved some on the far turn and closed resolutely. AGINCOURT showed speed, but tired in the stretch. VOLTINA had no mishaps. THISTLE FYRN, close" up from the start, tired in the stretch. POLYGENY w.is blocked and outrun thereafter. NEXT CALL was in a contending position when jumped on and badly cut down.
