| LADYSMANS DERBY ODDS 1 | CUT TO 3 TO 1 | NEW YORK, N. Y., May 1.— Thomas J. Shaw. New York commissioner is quoting future prices on twenty-four horses which he believes will at this stage, furnish the starters in the Kentucky Derby, to be run Saturday. He is quoting W. R. Coes Ladysman at 3 to 1 and due to the epidemic of coughing, which laid low several other outstanding contenders, has been forced to shorten his prices on the other probable starters in the race. The Chesapeake, on Saturday eliminated some, while the running of the Brown Hotel Purse and the Clark Handicap at Louisville eliminated others. The coughing epidemic which swept through Havre de Grace during the past week was the prime reason for the elimination of many and a recent victim of the disease, is Projectile, which owner Pons was grooming to replace Swivel. Mr. Khayyam, on the strength of his victory in the Chesapeake, has been given stout support and his price has been cut to ten to one. Head Play and Charley O. are second and third choices, with little to choose between them. Head Play is quoted at seven, while the Florida Derby winner is held at eight. The past few days, due to illness and poor racing, has eliminated some of the well-fancied oneo, including Projectile, War Stripes. War Glory, Utopian, Swivel, Repaid, Boilermaker, Crowning Glory and Garden Message. Advices from Louisville state that the field will be less than twenty-four starters and that Ladysman, the favorite and Mr. Khayyam will be the main -eliances of the East. Following are the future prices on probable starters at present: At Top, 60; Big Red, 80; Brokers Tip, 20; Captain Red, 60; Charley O., 8; Dark Winter, 50; Fair Rochester, 60; Fingal, 100; Head Play, 7; Inlander, 50; Interpreter, 60; Isaiah, 60; Kerry Patch, 15; Knockaway, 40; Ladysman, 3; Mr. Khayyam, 10; Pomponius. 20; Pre War, 100; Sarada, 10; Silent Shot, 80; Spicson, 80; Strideaway, 60; Trace Call, 20; Warren Jr., 40.
