this afternoon with his stablemate Cavalcade in second place a nose behind with Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilts Discovery third a length back and Mrs F J Hellers Agrarian fourth a length and a half back of Discovery In front all the way and galloping one mile and threesixteenths in 158 High Quest a son of Sir Gallahad III and Etoile Filante which cost Mrs Sloane 3500 at the auction block two years ago while he was still a yearling set a new mark for the Preakness and came within onefifth of a second of the Pimlico track record The Preakness mark was 159 flot held jointly by Coventry which was the revival of 1925 and Mate which took the renewal in 1931 The track mark 158 flat held jointly by Coventry which won it two years ago when he won a renewal of the Dixie Handicap HandicapHigh High Quest ridden by Bobby Jones and under the whip part of the time added 25 175 to earnings of 19515 amassed last sea son namely in a renewal of the Eastern Shore Handicap which he won and the Hopeful Stakes gatheringGovernor among the gathering Governor Ritchie was the luncheon guest of Frank Riggs the Maryland Jockey Clubs treasurer He came out to formally present the historic Woodlawn vase to the owner
