VERTUR1S FOR INTERNATIONAL RACE Newly Organized Narragansett Racing Association AssociationOffers Offers 25000 for Contest Between Epsom Derby DerbyWinner Winner Windsor Lad and Champion Cavalcade CavalcadeSpecial Special Cablegram NEWMARKET England June 28 Overtures are being made in this country for another international race in America somewhat similar to the race at Belmont Park in the fall of 1923 between the Epsom Derby winner Papyrus and his subsequent con ¬ queror the Kentucky Derby hero Zev The proposed match is one between the recent Epsom Derby winner the Maharajah of Rajpipias Windsor Lad and Americas cham ¬ pion threeyearold Mrs Isabella Dodge Sloanes Cavalcade winner of five of his six starts this season including the Kentucky American and Detroit Derbys Windsor Lad unbeaten this year in addition to the Epsom Derby has won the Chester Vase and New ¬ market Stakes StakesThe The international event is the proposition of the newly formed Narragansett Racing Association of Rhode Island which will open its gates for an inaugural meeting next month A stake of 25000 and a valuable trophy is offered for the international match the distance of which would be one mile and a quarter If the race materializes it will be run at the Narragansett Racing Associations second meeting in October The Narrangansett Racing Association also offers to defray all expenses in connection with the shipment of Windsor Lad to and from America AmericaNothing Nothing definite has been heard as yet from the Maharajah of Rajpipia but it is generally believed that the offer will be de ¬ clined In the first place the prize does not seem sufficiently valuable to induce the eastern potentate to send his champion 3000 miles in search of further fame and fortune Money does not interest the Maha ¬ rajah of Rajpipia He passed v such a rich stake as the 25000 St James Palace Stakes at Ascot last week and would not send his champion to his native Ireland to pick up another 25000 prize the Irish Derby which appeared at his mercy this week Some years ago the Maharajah of Rajpipia sent to Ireland his good horse Embargo to capture the premier Irish classic classicWindsor Windsor Lad since his strenuous race in the Epsom Derby early this month has wisely been given a respite in training and is being freshened up for his next engage ¬ ment the 50000 Eclipse Stakes one mile and a quarter at Sandowne Park July 2 This race will be a preliminary to his more important engagement in the last of the classics the St Leger Stakes to be run at Doncaster September 12
