KING BELGIAN EARNS PURSE Sprints to Victory Over Two Brooms Broomsat at Dayton Hoffman Brothers BrothersSaddle Saddle Winners DAYTON Ohio June 18 Several thou ¬ sand of the faithful braved unseasonably cold and wet weather and saw H Cowgills wellbacked King Belgian ridden by W Gonzales sprint to victory in the fifth and feature race at the Dayton Fair Grounds Wednesday afternoon Leading all the way King Belgian led Two Brooms home by a length while Donna Barona was third to complete the six and a half furlongs The winner negotiated the distance in 124 over a slow track trackHorses Horses trained by the Hoffman brothers Howard and Douglas were much in evi ¬ dence this afternoon Howard Hoffman saddled J B Respess Foot Lights for his winning effort in the third race and Doug ¬ las Hoffman sent postward Princess Elsie which accounted for the fourth event in the colors of his wife wifeFavorites Favorites for the most part gave good accounts of themselves although the arctic blasts somewhat dampened the enthusiasm of the assemblage
