- - f ! OMAHAS NEXT START IN j j QUEENS PLATE, MAY 30 i.. ....... --------- - - - - 4 Special Cablegram. NEWMARKET, England. May 23, If present arrangements are adhered to, William Woodwards Omaha will not start in the Coronation Cup over the Derby course at Epsom Downs next Thursday. Instead the four-year-old son of Gallant Fox Flambino, -which also passed up the Yorkshire Cup Handicap yesterday at York, will next be seen under silks in the Queens Plate, a two miles weight-for-age event at Kempton Park, May 30. This race will be a trial for his. more important engagement in the longdistance classic, the two miles and a half Ascot Gold Cup, June J.8. A similar campaign was mapped out last year for Sir Abe Baileys Ascot Gold Cup victor Tiberius, which stout-hearted son of Foxlaw, after finishing second to the undefeated Tai Yang in the Chippenham Stakes at Newmarket May 1 when making his four-year-old debut, passed up the Coronation Cup, but two days later scored easily over William Woodwards Alcazar and Gains-Jaw in the Queens Plate at Kempton Park and then went on to take the measure of Alcazar, the French invader Denver II., and three others, including the undefeated French challenger Brantome, in the Ascot Gold Cup. Though Omaha was nominated for the Coronation Cup next week at Epsom Downs, when the entries closed last December, it was never the intention of his owner-breeder to send him after this trophy. Omaha has other cup engagements this season the Goodewood Cup, two miles five furlongs, to be run July 30; Doncaster Cup, two and a quarter miles, to be run September 11; Jockey Club Cup, two and a quarter miles, to be run at Newmarket October 29, and the Champion Stakes, one mile and a quarter, to be run at Newmarket October 13.
