COL M. J. WINN LEAVING TODAY Churchill Downs Head Departs From Louisville Track for Chicago and New York. LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 1. Col. Matt J. Winn, president of the American Turf Association, leaves tomorrow and will go east for business in New York before returning to Churchill Downs. He expects to return here within ten days. On Monday he and other officers of tho American Turf Association will, be returned to office for another year, the regular annual meeting of the American Turf Association, for that purpose being scheduled in Chicago on that day. Colonel Winn will leave Louisville with visions of the greatest Kentucky Derby in point of attendance and, possibly, a record-breaker for betting, most distinct. As for tho quality of the field for the race, one rivalling that of 1928, Reigh Counts year, was assured as early as last fall when the curtain went down on the principal juvenile competition.
