DKIANA VICTORIES CONTINUE Good Catch Accounts for Chelsea Purse Days Feature Kings Heir and Torchy Second and Third ThirdIn In Chatham Purse Narragansett NarragansettAttendance Attendance Good PAWTUCKET R I May 11 Dixiana continues to be virtually invincible at Nar ¬ ragansett After Kings Heir and Torchy carried the establishments silks to second and third place in the Chatham Purse today Good Catch came back to win the featured Chelsea Purse at six furlongs under the same banner Charley Stevenson rode the Supremus gelding out to have him home a length and a half clear of Natty Boy from the stable of D C Hall and Miss L War render B F Listers Gala Star was third the same margin behind the runnerup and four lengths in advance of Star Loom The race was run in 112 and the Dixiana entry of the winner and Lee Hastings was a hot favorite favoriteGood Good Catch set most of the pace with Major Bowes at his throat latch to the stretch where the Major decided to call it a day Good Catch under a hand ride was going away in the final sixteenth Natty Boy drove up fast from fourth place as Major Bowes tired but was not equal to the task of catching the Dixiana racer Gala Star went surprisingly well He was well placed the entire way and finished fast Star Loom gained some ground in the stretch coming from far back Nothing else ever figured seriously seriouslyA A beautiful spring day brought an excel ¬ lent weekday crowd to the grounds groundsSPECTACULAR SPECTACULAR FINISH FINISHIn In one of the closest finishes of the meet ¬ ing C H Trotters Historic Era came again in the final stride after appearing to hang and nosed out Dixianas Kings Heir in the four and onehalf furlongs dash event for juveniles that was fourth on the program Torchy coupled in the betting with the sec ¬ ond horse was third a length back of the battling leaders Most folk believed that Kings Heir lasted long enough to win but the film showed otherwise The beaten en ¬ try ruled an oddson choice choiceHistoric Historic Era ridden by Jaekle had a rough trip and was probably best as the race was run Torchy and Retlaw set the pace and when Historic Era attempted to come through he ran into a pocket pocketG G L Weiss Good Dame the choice won the opening race and chalked up another score for Carl Bierman as she finished a length in advance of Miss Mary Whites Royal Bird The latter was two and a half lengths in front of Miss Anita Doris Con ¬ sistent at the end of the six furlongs jour ¬ ney Peaceful wound up fourth in the field of a dozen The race was marked by tragedy when Peter Carey broke his leg at the sev ¬ entyyard marker He finished with the broken leg dangling danglingIN IN RUNNING MOOD MOODMrs Mrs T Marshalls Dashalong ran away before the second at six furlongs and also ran away with the race Smartly ridden out by young Schieh the Whiskalong gelding finished a length to the good of W J Hirschs Jinx and Mrs A M Creechs Doctor C N which deadheated for theplace Time Signal hung right on the money followed them over the line lineBierman Bierman rode his second winner and Miss Anita Doris added another to her long string of victories as U Demon galloped home by two and a half lengths in the third at a mile and a sixteenth It was an Indianfile finish with Phil Biebers Paralda second two and a half lengths in front of Sport Haymakers Balapin the 9 to 5 choice Mar free was a distant fourth fourthTrainer Trainer Clyde Van Dusen pointed out Tuesday that Dixianas Sweepalot won his first race May 5 1936 at Churchill Downs and did not visit the winners circle again until May 6 1937 when he won the Bridge water Purse at Narragansett
